Honoring the Lives of Odin Ratliff & Hunter Jackson
On May 2, 2022, tragedy struck in Eagle Mountain, Utah, when two best friends, 3-year-olds Odin Ratliff and Hunter Jackson, lost their lives in a devastating incident that shook their families and the entire community.
The boys were spending time together in a familiar, peaceful place — a place filled with joy, play, and connection. What was supposed to be an ordinary spring evening turned into an unimaginable loss due to the reckless actions of a driver under the influence, with a long and troubling history that had gone unaddressed by state systems.
In the months that followed, their families courageously spoke out, exposing the failures that led to this preventable loss. Their advocacy helped change Utah law, closing dangerous gaps in communication between parole systems and drug testing agencies — a crucial step to protect other families from the same kind of heartbreak.
From this, the My Triumph Over Tragedy non-profit was born.
